Welcome

Pilates is a series of non-impact resistance exercises done in reclining or sitting positions on floor mats or specialized equipment. It was develop by Joseph Pilates nearly a century ago to help rehabilitate returning World War I veterans, but has only recently moved to the forefront as people seek alternative methods of fitness.

High impact methods and focusing on single muscle groups overstresses the body and may even cause injury. Pilates is gentle and designed to accommodate any age and level of fitness. It starts off by gently and deeply working from your core to improve your strength, posture, balance, and flexibility. Some physical therapists recommend Pilates to help rehabilitation. It is also popular among athletes, dancers, and those whose careers depend on keeping fit. Pilates is not just an exercise system, but a lifestyle for health and fitness.
